正如你以下两个例句所示，定语从句既可以是修饰名词A的，也有可能是修饰名词B的。有时可以根据谓语的数做出判断，有时则只能根据逻辑进行判断。如下面的第二句可以改变一下。

Do you remember one afternoon ten yearsago when I came to your house and borrowed a diamond necklace? 确实定语从句修饰的是one afternoon.

He is one of the students who have passed the exam.这里定语从句修饰的是students。注意这句中的one前面没有冠词，定语从句的谓语为复数have。这明显提示定语从句修饰的是复数名词students，主语he只是这些通过考试的诸多学生之一。

He is the (only) one of the students who has passed the exam.

这一句则不同，one前有定冠词限定，only可有可无，定语从句的谓语用单数has, 显然定语从句修饰的是the one。主语he是这些学生中唯一通过考试的一个。其它人都没有通过考试。

表语改为two, 定语从句的谓语一定是复数了。这时唯一判断的标准就是看two之前有无定冠词，如果有，就是修饰the two; 如果没有冠词，则定语从句修饰students。

They are (the) two of the students who have passed the exam.
